Scottish Country Dancing...
...is a form of country dancing popular in England and Scotland in the 18th century. It is a very social form of dance which involves groups of 6 to 10 people. The
music is played on the accordion, flute, piano, drums but usually no bagpipes.
Scottish Country Dancing was used as a basis to our American square dance. There are about a dozen basic steps and figures which will get you through most of the
dances.
Basic steps can be learned in just a few lessons and dances never have to be memorized!
At most dance social evenings or balls the dances are
published beforehand and "briefed" before each dance
begins.
The HDCS dancers meet every Monday 7 to 9 pm at The Sons of
Norway Hall in Bend. The cost is $3.00 and beginners are
welcome! For more information, check out the Dancers site at www.hdccd.com.
You don't need a partner, so come and enjoy a very lively dance form!
The last Monday of the month there is a Dance Party with
live music by A Scottish Heart.
